Sandhan isn't a normal trek and it doesn't need a normal packing list. You're going into a water-carved canyon, getting wet, and rappelling down rock faces — what you carry (and what you don't) makes a real difference.
Samrad village is the standard base, near Bhandardara in the Ahmednagar district. From Mumbai it's roughly 185 km, about four to five hours by road. From Pune, roughly 190 km. The last stretch to the village is a narrow road. Most trekkers arrive the night before or early morning.
Quick-dry clothing that you don't mind getting soaked and scraped. Not cotton — it stays wet and cold for hours. Sturdy shoes with grip that can handle water and rock (not sandals, not new shoes). A change of dry clothes sealed in a waterproof bag for after the canyon.
A small, secure backpack that won't swing while you're rappelling. Two litres of water. Energy food. A waterproof pouch or dry bag for your phone, wallet and documents — assume everything gets wet. A headlamp. No heavy or dangling items that could catch on rock during the rappels. Rappelling gear (harnesses, ropes, helmets) is provided by the guide team; you don't carry your own.
A big backpack. A camera around your neck (put it in a dry bag). Anything you can't afford to get wet or scratched. Bulky footwear. Speakers or anything fragile.
Pack for the canyon, not the trail. On a GoRaahi Sandhan trek, we provide the technical gear and send you a list in advance — so you arrive ready for the valley.
